Never Lost at Love Before

It's not like I am new at this; I've had my share of love,
You could say I've been around the block.
But somewhere along the way, I must have taken a wrong turn,
This neighbourhood is new and it's a shock.

I've always walked in sunshine, never had to face the rain.
That's just the way it works sometimes - I lucked out every game.
While others cried their tears I had it oh, so easily,
But ever since I met you, they're all worried about me.

I've had my share of romance, I've had my share of fun.
Never was a need for keeping score.
But now I feel the sting of tears and realize -
I'd never lost at love before - oh, I'd never lost at love before.

You'd think a girl of my age would have loved and lost before.
But the right one never came along - I always wanted more.
Now that you've come and gone, I know the hurt that love can do,
And if it never comes my way again, guess I'll have the memory of you.

I've had my share of romance, I've had my share of fun.
Never was a need for keeping score.
But now I feel the sting of tears and realize -
I'd never lost at love before - oh, I'd never lost at love before.

I may never love again - for me, it is quite rare.
And now that I know what's at stake, I'll try hard not to care.

Look at all the happy people - they're smiling even now.
I used to smile much more often, but now I can't remember how.
Guess they're just naive like I was, just waiting to fall from their high,
Or, if they've found love to hold onto, they've got a better grip than I.

I've had my share of romance, I've had my share of fun.
Never was a need for keeping score.
But now I feel the sting of tears and realize -
I'd never lost at love before - oh, I'd never lost at love before.
